Good Morning Team,

Today we had the privilege of having our Vice Chairman of the Board, and certified trauma counselor, Kathy Ollerton, in the office today to help facilitate a discussion around the loss of our friend and colleague Bill Clemente. It was a very open, honest and emotional discussion. I am so proud to be part of such a great team that pulls together. Kathy mentioned that the workplace has become the “neighborhood” of modern day connection. Here is where we look out for each other and connect. Attached are two one page documents around workplace trauma and grief. You may find these helpful or they may help someone you know.

As far as an update:
Services for Bill Clemente will be Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Dean Lescher Center in Walnut Creek at 2pm. The details are on Facebook, tps://www.facebook.com/events/380774685271164/?ref=ts

CCAR Helping Hands has started a fund to cover burial costs for Bill.
We will collect check and cash here. Please make out the check to Helping Hands and mark Bill Clemente in the memo section. Any excess money raised will go to start a Bill Clemente scholarship with the CCAR Scholarship Foundation.

Please know that I am here for you in any way you need support. We discussed today that this may bring up feelings from losses in our past, as it has for me. Know that I have a safe place, a hug and additional resources as needed for each of you.

Thank you for being such a special part of my community. Without you, my smile would not be so bright.

So many of us are affected by the passing of Bill Clemente. If you can attend the CCRIM meeting tomorrow at the Elks Lodge in Walnut Creek from 8:00 to 9:30, we are encouraged to wear bow ties in memory of Bill. At our Sales Meeting on Wednesday we will pull together as a family and support each other. Kathy Ollerton will be here to facilitate a discussion. We are a team and a family. Our business is a business filled with emotions and relationships. It is important to recognize those emotions and help support each other.

It appears that services for Bill will not be held until next week. As I get information, I will share it will you as soon as possible.

We are stronger than the sum of our parts and we each touch so many lives in ways we will never know.

I look forward to seeing you in the office!

2011 had some wonderful joys and also some interesting challenges for each of us. Together we pulled together as a team and have developed a culture to be admired in our real estate community. Ron Lau talks about fun, Martha Ann talks about production, Kristin talks about respect and Michael talks about sharing. There are many more stories that define the office we have become. I am really proud to be a part of this team. Our office Facebook page is filled with success and inspiration. Please make sure that you add to the fabric of our quilt of experience, by “like”-ing our page and commenting when you can.

2012 is going to be our year!! We are going to work together to help each individual achieve our goals. Together we are so much more than the sum of our parts. Our office mission statement, “Committed to Clients…Inspired by Success” is so appropriate. Each of you inspires the other. If you haven’t been to the office in a while you truly are missing out on a true gift. This year we are going to be committed, successful and productive. We will attract talented people to our office that will enhance the amazing culture at our core. We will help each other, inspire each other and push each other when needed.

I have told many of you that I felt that our office is the best kept secret in Walnut Creek. We will no longer be secretive. We are a powerful, exciting and successful team that has fun along the way. 2012 is here and we have built some great momentum. Let’s make it a great ride!!

This time of year is full of great things: smiling faces, parties, libations, gift exchanges, gratitude and of course…ugly sweaters!! I have made a commitment to enjoy this wonderful tradition. What is so enticing about the sweater that you would NEVER wear any other time of the year??

I think there is some attraction to just being a little bit child like. Enjoy the lights, the songs, the funny TV specials from the perspective of a child. Most of these holiday sweaters are really more appropriate for a child, and when I wear this sweater, I feel younger! What a wonderful time to experience the season from child like eyes,

What are the best attributes of children?
Laughter in the simple things
Persistence…No is not an option!
Giddy
Dance and Sing often
Wonder…be curious
Focused on what they want, and willing to ask for it
Indifferent to the judgments of others
Find joy easily
Hugs!

Sometimes in our real estate business we many need to take on a few attributes of children. Laugh more, be curious and hug as much as possible! This time of year can also be a bit stressful. Laughter is a natural stress reducer. There is a lot of laughter in the office these days! I promise there will be a lot of laughing at our Holiday Pot Luck Brunch on Wednesday at 11am. If you are looking to reconnect to your inner child, buy a toy for Toys for Tots and bring it in! Bring a dish to share and come laugh with your BHG WC family! Of course….wear your ugliest Holiday sweater! I will wear mine!!!

I am looking forward to giving each of you a very childish hug!!!

The December Listing Challenge is going well! There was a TON of activity in the office today. DeAnn Simpson is the current leader!! We have decided to add 3 points for writing offers. So start writing!!

We also did a very “mini” business plan. This was a small view of the Business Planning Workshop on December 15th at 1pm. This is open to any agent of any brokerage. Please bring a friend!!

Also…just a reminder the the Mega Open House training tomorrow and we are collecting coats! Ron Lau also reminded everyone about our Holiday Pot Luck on December 21st! Make sure you sign up with Kerri!

At the end of the meeting we watched a short YouTube video about taking opportunities when you get them. Enjoy !!

See you in the office!!!

Katey

So the wind yesterday created some interesting social media chatter yesterday. I saw a amateur video that incorporated Mary Poppins and several discussion on whose house was going to fall on the house and who exactly is the “witch”. The thing that interested me the most is that creativity is alive and well this time of year. We all have great memories, stories and traditions that are openly discussed, even with strangers, this time of year. What traditions are you sharing??

At our Prosper meeting on Monday, Michael Moore pointed out that this time of year, most people are filled with excitement and hope, “still hoping for the pony”. In January the reality of holiday indulgence, parties and the hard cold fact that the toy pony is just not the same. Take the time now to call people, wish them well, talk about traditions at holiday parties and be available.

We launched our Listing Challenge 2011 for December. How many points have you accumulated already? I know Linda Hellman was out walking and passing out cards yesterday!! The purpose of the challenge is to help remind all of us to keep the discussion going, be a resource for the people you talk to this time of year and have some fun!! David Eggs mentioned at the Sales Meetings, that contests are always fun!! Linda and Kerri will be accumulating your numbers by 4pm on Tuesday! Did you sign up for an Open House? Planning to coming to Calling with Katey today? Get a listing appointment??

Come into the office and share your traditions! We love to hear about them!

listing challenge 2011

We want our unfair share! BHG Walnut Creek is the best kept secret of 2011…and we will not be a secret in 2012! Many of us have struggled this year and HQ has put together a fantastic program to help any agent that wants to increase production for 2012. If you have closed 4 or less transactions in 2011, you need to sign up for Productivity Coaching! When 20 agents from our office are enrolled in this program the energy, success and fun in the office will be amazing. It is inspiring and contagious to everyone!

Many of you have heard me discuss the benefits of Productivity Coaching. I have personally seen it dramatically improve people’s lives. The commitment is one full day per month training in Pleasanton, once a week call for accountability with the Productivity Coach and a commitment to work your business differently to achieve better results. Also, you have me here to help, cheer you on and support you with whatever you need to be successful. Productivity Coaching works!!!

If you have any additional questions, call or email me. Don’t wait for the market to change…GO CHANGE THE MARKET!!!
